Multilingual manga platform "Mantra Limited Test Ver." was launched.
We translate manga into multiple languages quickly, cheaply, and accurately by using Mantra's translation engine followed by human post-editing.


Mantra uses computer vision and natural language processing technologies to translate any manga from one language to another.

Speech Bubble Detection

First, Mantra detects speech bubbles that contain text to be translated into another language.

Text Recognition

Next, Mantra captures the text inside the speech bubble. Mantra's robust recognition algorithm helps detection from noisy images.

Machine Translation

Finally, Mantra translates the detected texts into target languages and embeds them into the speech bubbles.

Shonosuke Ishiwatari

Co-Founder and CEO. Prior to Mantra, he earned his Ph.D. in the area of natural language processing from the University of Tokyo where he also works as a post-doc researcher.

Ryota Hinami

Co-Founder and CTO. Prior to Mantra, he earned his Ph.D. in the area of computer from the University of Tokyo.

Takeshi Yamanaka

Planner / editor. Joined Mantra's team in 2019 after working at a publisher and an advertising agency specializing in games. His representative works as an editor are "Izana" (Matsuura Daruma / Seikaisha) and "Learning with Manga! Fate/Grand Order" (manga: Riyo, original: TYPE-MOON / FGO PROJECT)
